As if the dried up lakes weren’t bad enough, now we have fish being suffocated and boiled right in their own habitat before the lakes, rivers and ponds ever even evaporate! (This article by AP on Yahoo! News has more details.) Across the Midwest United States the heat wave and drought have been wreaking havoc on farmlands and water supplies for weeks now. For more information on the drought see the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Yet, as we see this phenomenon happening, we have already been warned that it would happen, thousands of years in advance, in a Book that is being ever increasingly relegated to the religious fanatic’s dust bin of coincidental fairy tales and fantasy. The moral state of the United States of America is in steep decline, and God says plainly that tremendous drought, and, yes, even dead fish, will be the result of such rebellion against Him. Notice the following verses taken out of the Holy Bible:
Hear the word of the Eternal, you children of Israel, for the Ever-Living One brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed. Therefore the land will mourn; and everyone who dwells there will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea will be taken away. (Hosea 4:1-3)
It is interesting to note that the Hebrew word “ym”, which is translated “sea” in the verse above, means also “lake, reservoir, pond” and can also refer to “larger lakes and rivers.” (See The Hebrew & Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament – Koehler, Ludwig, Baumgartner, Walter.)
Again God says:
Why, when I came, was there no man? Why, when I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver?
Indeed with My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; their fish stink because there is no water, and die of thirst. (Isaiah 50:2)
“I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, the fish of the sea, and the stumbling blocks along with the wicked. I will cut off man from the face of the land,” says the Eternal. (Zephaniah 1:3)
Yet, these warnings are given to the children of Israel, but who are they? And how do prophecies for those people pertain to us? To learn about the lost tribes of Israel, check out the highly informative booklet: The United States and Great Britain in Prophecy. It may just blow your mind!
