Tornadoes, tornadoes and more tornadoes

Tornadoes continue to ravage the land with at least 120 popping up over the weekend. Skeptics attribute the increase in tornadoes to better technology with which to track them. However, in spite of the fact that there have been advances in our ability to track storms, so have there been parallel increases in our ability to warn people of the impending doom when these ferocious storms crop up. Yet, 550 people lost their lives in the United States alone, in 2011, compared to 554 people in the previous ten years combined. 1706 confirmed tornadoes cause a confirmed 9.5 billion in damage by July 31, 2011 (see Wikipedia). The city of Joplin, MO suffered a loss of nearly 7000 houses, most of which were completely flattened and destroyed with damage across the landscape as far as the eye can see.

Joplin, MO 2011 Tornado Aftermath

No, those who wish to cling to the delusion that things are just the same as they have always been are dabbling in willful ignorance. Joplin is just one of several cities severely damaged by these storms. There were cities in Oklahoma, Alabama and Mississippi that suffered major destruction as well. And here we are barely into the second quarter of 2012 and we’re already seeing an abundance of these storms.

Evolution and the Goldilocks Zone

So… some scientists believe they found planets with conditions for life around red dwarf stars… as the article below points out, when a planet is too close to a star it has to endure being bombarded with life destroying rays. Another problem is that when a planet is too close to a star, the gravity from the star locks the planet into position which prevents it from spinning. The obvious effect is that one side of the planet gets constant heat from the star and the opposite side is always in darkness… yup – perfect for life……..

Andromeda

Contrary to the hoax of evolution, the Bible reveals that the universe and it’s myriad galaxies and their myriad solar systems and planets were created to be delivered from the bondage of corruption by the children of God when they are born again from the grave into God’s glory (1 John 3:2; Romans 8:19-21; Hebrews 2:6-8).

Billions of habitable planets in our galaxy?

“A European team said on Wednesday [March 28] that about 40 percent of red dwarf stars–the most common type in the Milky Way–have a so-called “super-Earth” planet orbiting in a habitable zone that would allow water to flow on the surface.” This could equate to tens of billions of planets! However, these same researchers also caution that “…the rocky worlds spinning around red dwarfs are not necessarily cosy places for alien forms of life. Because red dwarfs are much cooler than the sun, any planets with liquid water will need to be orbiting much closer to the star than the Earth is from the Sun. That may mean they are bathed in damaging X-ray and ultraviolet radiation” (Reuters, March 28, 2012).

The Bible states that the Earth is where God is now working and will one day serve as the location for His galactic throne (Revelation 5:10, 21:1-3). So there is currently NO “other life out there.” However, the great God, through His son, DID create all of the heavens (Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:15-16). God did not create the universe because He was bored, but rather, like everything else He created, He did so with a purpose.

Will the universe be inhabited one day? What will become of these “rocky worlds” that could possibly sustain life if they had the right type of atmosphere? What will be the ultimate responsibility of the saints?

Ever see a rabbit lay an egg?

Thugs Bunny

Yeah, me neither….

Bottom line? You can search the Bible from beginning to end and never find anything about bunnies and eggs being used to represent God or Christ in any way, nor can you find any place in Scripture where these symbols are used to worship God.

While the picture to the right may be humorous, it certainly illustrates the reality of one who would turn people away from the Jesus Christ of the Bible.
